Listen up foodie friends! I’ve got the inside scoop on a new product that’s shaking up the dairy world and guess what.. today I’m going to let you in on the secret too!
Rich, decadent, spoonable cream that’s made with only 3 natural ingredients- sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Fortunately the Brooklyn Creamery Company has made this a reality with their all new line of Extra Thick, Single and Double Creams. It’s like no other dairy product on the market and can be used in just about any type of recipe imaginable- from sweet to savory, and everything in between.
So you may be asking yourself what exactly is Extra Thick Cream and what does it taste like? Well, think of it this way, it’s got the consistency of Greek yogurt or sour cream but has a sweeter, richer flavor. Their cream is treated using a unique, time-honored process that gives it a rich, creamy and spoonable texture. Unlike heavy cream, which is a liquid, Brooklyn Creamery’s products have a thick texture and consistency that lends itself to a variety of recipes.
Extra Thick Cream is full fat (aka thick and luxurious, perfect for soups and sauces) and Single Cream is half the fat (aka still tasty with fewer calories, great for dipping fruit). Both varieties of the cream are made with all natural ingredients and no added preservatives, sugars, or salts. They’re gluten free, carb free, and kosher!
Hearing this, I was intrigued and had to try it for myself. Fortunately, my local grocery store held a special tasting event and I was able to sample both of the creams. At the tasting, the creams were spooned on to fresh strawberries for a delicious and refreshing treat. I, along with my two little taste-testers (my kiddos) sampled both varieties of cream.
Both creams were mildly sweet with a silky texture that paired perfectly with the fresh berries. (Special shout-out to demo host Carolyn who was not only well-versed in all things BK Creamery, but was also very accommodating to my 6 year old who went back for not only seconds, but thirds, and even a fourth serving of strawberries and cream!)
After attending the tasting event, my creative culinary wheels were turning! Ive thought of a million-and-one new uses for BK Cream including a whipped cupcake frosting, a rich and creamy pasta sauce, a decadent and silky corn chowder, and even transforming it into a sinfully sweet base for ice cream batter. Yum! Be sure to check back soon because I’ll be sharing my favorite kitchen-tested BK Creamery recipe here on the blog soon!
